24 yr. monoski pioneer
The winter of 74/75 I had my first powder ride on a Bahne/Doyle monoski. It was love at
first ride! The perfect platform made ultimate freedom and creativity in deep snow a
reality. I purchased that first monoski faster than anything I've ever bought. 24 years
later my passion for monoskiing is stronger than ever.
At Mono Motion we've tested multiple models of Bahne, Research Dynamics, Rossignol,
Dynastar, Duret, Dynamic, Lacroix, Tua, Ski Tech Research, Look, World Ski, Head,
Niedecker, Free Surf, White Knuckle and Snowshark monoskis. I know what I want in a high
performance monoski and I'm very pleased to say that I find it in the Snowshark line.
Monoskis that snap in two and delaminate have been a horror story for too long. Durability
and strength is the first priority. El Nino was the ultimate durability and performance
test for monoskis. Face shots for four months and spring conditions forever. My all
mountain and Tigershark models were both bulletproof; no breakage or delamination problems
whatsoever. If monoskiers like Timber Rolfe, Don Bruce, Lee Dube, Spyder Johnson, Vaughn
Ubanks, and Robby Travares can't break a Snowshark, no one can. I had not one Snowshark
come back to Mono Motion for warranty problems.
My acid test is how well that one edge holds on blue ice. Most monoskis are heroes in
powder, but traversing the hard stuff, to snag the freshies, can get a bit dicey.
Snowsharks are rock solid in holding power and do not wash out. I felt very confident with
the edging and carving in mirror like snow on steep traverses.
The Snowshark carves and releases with an effortless fluidity that is second to none. The
soulful transitions from edge to edge are what I like most about the Shark. The stable and
vibration free ride lends itself to incredibly fast descents. The Tigershark is a high
performance mogul ski that excels in steep terrain. If the bumps on Gunbarrel, KT22, and
under chair 23 are your style, try a Tigershark. The Snowshark in the El Nino deep and
deeper was as sweet a powder ride as you'll find.
Papa Shark John Carpenter was smart enough to listen to a bunch of old hardcore monoskiers
rant and rave and put their two cents in. He not only listened but he acted upon the input
and now has himself a state of the art line of monoskis. Congratulations Snowshark!
